MAYBROOK – Jack Barletta will forever be synonymous with the Village of Maybrook. State and local officials joined residents and members of Barletta’s family Wednesday for a ceremony officially designating a portion of Route 208 the Jack Barletta Memorial Highway.
State Senator James Skoufis said the longtime resident and World War II veteran has left an indelible mark on not only Maybrook, but his country.
“This man set out at the age of 19 to face a future he couldn’t have begun to fathom. Driven by a sense of purpose and duty. That drive stayed with him and Jack Barletta served
honorably in the U.S. Army, including in Italy and France where he was badly wounded,” Skoufis said. “The Hudson Valley has the distinction of being the birthplace of the Purple Heart and he was the recipient
