STRONGSVILLE, Ohio (WOIO) - A Strongsville teacher was voted the 2025 Young Professional of the Year by the Ohio Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (OAHPERD).

Emily Weir teaches physical education at Kinsner Elementary School.

She was given the award for the “innovative ways she is building health habits and foundations for active lifestyles in elementary school learners.”

Developed and implemented a district-wide roller skating unit for students in 3rd-5th grades.

Partnered with the First Tee school golf program and helped bring to all five SCS elementary buildings.

Built community partnerships with World Championship Taekwondo Academy and KidStrong.

Supported Kinsner students in raising $12,470 for American Heart Association in 2025.
