SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - The county’s first Safe Haven Baby Box is being dedicated in Stow Thursday afternoon.
A Safe Haven Baby Box is a device installed at some fire stations and hospitals where a parent can surrender a newborn baby.
The device is both secure and temperature-controlled.
Once the exterior door is locked, a silent alarm is activated for authorities.
The parent will not face any charges.
Stow’s Safe Haven Baby Box is located at the Stow Fire Station #2 at 4199 Hudson Dr.
This is Ohio’s 21st Safe Haven Baby Box and the nation’s 396th.
