CLEVELAND, Ohio – A sluggish 2025 proved to be an economic punch that Bookhouse Brewing simply could not recover from.
Owner and brewer Vaughn Stewart laid out the specific reasons that snowballed into the decision to close the seven-year-old brewery. Final day will be around Wednesday, Dec. 31. The brewery is at 1526 W. 25th St. in Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood.
“It’s an accumulation of a lot of things,” Stewart said. “Like anybody in the post-pandemic landscape, you kind of have certain assumptions – things are going to get better, and you do your best to be responsive to the market. And that’s just been the story of the last five years.”
But this year, things shifted.
“The declines,” he said, “have been sharper than anybody expected.”
