Police have cordoned off a children's play area following reports that shots had been fired. Officers were called to a playing field shortly before 9.45pm on Wednesday, November 19, to reports of several loud bangs and shouting heard in the area.

Emergency services attended the children's play park in Hapsford Road, Litherland, the ECHO reported.

It was also reported five teens were seen heading towards the train station, some were on foot, and some were on electric/push bikes.

Merseyside Police have cordoned off a large area of Hapsford Park, a surrounding field and Hapsford Road while enquiries are ongoing.
