COLUMBUS, Ohio — Dozens of nurses and supporters gathered outside The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center on Wednesday night, calling for stronger safety measures and protesting against hospital leadership after a nurse was allegedly strangled by a hospital visitor earlier this month.

Angela Justice, an OhioHealth Marion nurse who previously worked at Wexner Medical Center, said the victim is her best friend.

“I'm just so thankful that this was a rally in support for her — and not a candlelight vigil,” Justice said. “She told me right as it happened, and I went racing to be by her side."

Justice described her friend as the strongest person she knows and said the attack highlights ongoing safety concerns in hospitals.
