UPDATE: Former Tennessee lawmaker Robin Smith, who in March of 2022 pleaded guilty to one count of honest services fraud as part of a plea deal, is asking for a judge to reconsider her sentence.
She was sentenced to eight months in federal prison.
The federal investigation that led to her charge also involved former State House Speaker Glen Casada and his chief of staff Cade Cothren.
Both Casada and Cothren were given full and unconditional pardons by President Donald Trump, weeks before they were to report to prison for their role in the case.
Smith previously sought probation as part of her sentencing, which was denied during her original sentencing hearing. In her new motion, Smith is again asking for probation instead of serving jail time.
