The Apache Junction Police Department has released a critical incident briefing video detailing the officer-involved shooting that occurred on June 2, 2025, resulting in the line-of-duty death of Officer Gabriel Facio.

Officers responded to a call for service that escalated into an armed confrontation. During the incident, the suspect, Roger Nunez, fired multiple rounds, striking Officer Facio, it states in a release.

Responding officers returned fire, and Nunez sustained a gunshot wound to his torso. He was treated at a local hospital and later booked into the Pinal County Jail on charges including one count of first-degree murder, seven counts of aggravated assault on law enforcement, and two counts of disorderly conduct with a weapon. Nunez is being held on a $2 million cash-only bond
