INDIANA, USA — The Indiana State Police is investigating multiple instances of "swatting," which have recently targeted members of the Indiana General Assembly.
State Sen. Spencer Deery (R-West Lafayette) and State Sen. Greg Goode (R-District 38) were both victims of swatting this week.
Swatting is an incident in which someone with ill intention notifies law enforcement of a false emergency at a targeted location. The end goal of this is to generate as large a scale law enforcement response as possible.
"The Indiana State Police warn that not only is this potentially dangerous to all involved, but it is also against the law," ISP said in a news release.
If you have any information about a swatting case, you're asked to contact the Indiana State Police here.
