LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Weeks after a UPS plane crashed south of Louisville’s international airport, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has released a preliminary report on its investigation into the cause of the deadly incident.
The cargo plane crash killed 14 people , and in Thursday report, the NTSB confirmed a total of 23 other people were injured as well.
Screenshots from video during the final stages of takeoff show the left engine and pylon departed from the plane. The engine caught fire in the air. The wing caught fire as the engine departed; likely fueled by open fuel lines in the leading edge of the wing.
