Ahead of Friday’s non-tender deadline, the Red Sox struck a deal to keep their catching tandem intact entering 2026.

Boston avoided arbitration with Connor Wong by signing him to a one-year contract, the team announced Thursday. Wong will earn a $1.375 million salary in 2026 and his deal includes an additional $75,000 in performance bonuses based on plate appearances.

Wong started a combined 204 games for the Red Sox in 2023 and 2024 and was expected to be the starter in 2025 before rookie Carlos Narváez broke out and became the starter. Wong played in just 63 games last season, hitting .190 with zero homers, eight doubles, seven RBIs and a .500 OPS.
