PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Deliberations continued Thursday in the murder trial of two men accused of shooting and killing a Philadelphia police officer.

The jurors did not reach a verdict and will continue deliberating on Friday.

The jury started deliberations at 1 p.m. Wednesday, but about an hour later, one juror was taken out because of a medical emergency. An alternate was being brought in.

It has taken two years to get to this point, which has been difficult for the Philadelphia police community and the family of Sergeant Richard Mendez.

The defense argues that the men were only htere to steal a vehicle but that things got out of control.

Now, a jury will decide the fate of two of the three men charged with Sgt. Mendez's murder.
