Corewell Health Children’s Hospital is once again inviting Metro Detroiters to help brighten the lives of young patients over the Christmas holiday.
Hospital officials on Thursday said they are recruiting volunteers to participate in their annual "Moonbeams for Sweet Dreams" program. The goal is to lift young patients' spirits by shining lights at their hospital room windows.
"Being hospitalized, especially this time of year, can feel extremely isolating for our kids and their families," Lisa Muma, a registered nurse and the program's co-leader, said in a statement. "This tradition brings the holiday magic right to their windows and shows them how much the community truly cares."
This year, the program begins at 8 p.m. on Dec. 9 and runs through Dec. 23, weather permitting.
