CLEVELAND, Ohio — A natural gas odor detected in a science room at Rocky River Middle School prompted an evacuation Thursday morning.
Rocky River firefighters inspected the second-floor classroom and confirmed that the room did not contain toxic levels of gas and that oxygen levels were appropriate. Officials determined the situation was not explosive or hazardous, the district confirmed in a statement.
No injuries were reported.
The district closed off the room as a precaution and permitted students and staff to return to the building. The room will remain off limits while a gas valve is replaced.
The district said the rest of the building is safe for normal operations.
