An ambulance worker and a police officer were 'attacked in a Birmingham street after trying to help a man'.

A police constable from the Safer Travel team found a man who needed medical help in Stratford Road in Hall Green on Tuesday (November 18).

The officer called an ambulance for the man at around 7pm.

But then the man is then said to have ‘attacked’ the police officer and the paramedic, but neither were seriously hurt.

West Midlands Police confirmed it has arrested a 38-year-old man on suspicion of attacking the two emergency workers.

He is currently in custody and being questioned by officers.
