TOM GREEN COUNTY, Texas — Two deer at a Tom Green County breeding facility have tested positive for chronic wasting disease (CWD), according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD).

The facility, owned by San Antonio resident Ken Schlaudt, is among several linked to the “Ghost Deer” investigation, where Texas Game Wardens uncovered violations at deer breeding operations across the state.

Authorities say alleged offenses include smuggling captive breeder and free-range white-tailed deer between facilities and ranches, failing to perform required CWD testing, committing license violations along with drug-related charges tied to improper possession and use of controlled substances.
