AUSTIN, Texas — A 50-year-old Austin man has been sentenced to 29 years in prison after several bags of methamphetamine were discovered in his home last year.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Trinity Duke Smith was sentenced on Nov. 19 to 27 years for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, as well as two years for violating the requirements of a previously imposed term of supervised release.

In December 2020, Smith was released from prison with supervision. Nearly four years later in spring 2024, a search warrant led to an investigation of his home.
