The Stone Roses’ bassist Gary “Mani” Mounfield, who also played with Primal Scream, has died just days after his birthday and announcing an upcoming tour. He was 63.
The death of the “Madchester” musician , was announced Thursday in a Facebook post from his brother, Greg . Mounfield celebrated his birthday this past Sunday.
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to announce the sad passing of my brother Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield. RIP RKID,” he wrote, before adding in the comments: “Reunited with his beautiful wife Imelda.” Greg did not provide a cause of death.
The Manchester native died two years and two days after losing his wife to bowel cancer.
The couple welcomed twin sons Gene and George in 2012, according to The Independent. BBC reports the twins were born in 2013 .
