BOISE, Idaho — A man was arrested for murder after he told police he performed an "assisted suicide," according to Boise police.

The Boise Police Department said officers responded to a hotel in the 2500 block of Sunrise Rim, near Vista and I-84, around 12:45 a.m. Thursday. Police found a man dead inside a hotel room.

Ada County Paramedics performed life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to BPD.

The suspect, 36-year-old Brian Jones, told dispatch that he had killed his friend, BPD said. According to police, Jones said "his friend said he wanted to go," and he called the death an assisted suicide.

Idaho Code says assisted suicide is illegal.
