RCMP arrested a Dauphin man after a trespassing incident led to the seizure of drugs and cash, Mounties say.

While on patrol Tuesday at about 3 p.m., Dauphin RCMP saw a man they recognized trespassing on a property on Main Street North.

Officers stopped the man and saw he had a “large knife” on his belt, RCMP said in a news release on Wednesday.

The man reached for the knife right after police told him not to, the release said.

Police arrested the man and, while searching him, found a small amount of methamphetamine, Canadian currency and unmarked tobacco, the RCMP said.

Craig Shingoose, 43, was charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possessing property obtained by crime under $5,000 and possessing a scheduled substance.
