Fort Lauderdale city leaders voted Wednesday night to move forward with a redevelopment plan that could bring 10- to 15-story high rises to a residential area.
Meanwhile, some neighbors told NBC6 they were "frustrated, disillusioned" with the decision.
Troy Liggett is president of the Middle River Terrace Association, which covers the area in question, the 13th Street Corridor, an area mainly filled with single-family homes.
The group has been fighting against the city’s plan to allow those high rises, concerned that they would bring traffic, noise and congestion.
"We’ve had dozens of meetings about this. We have gone to the city again and again to ask them to listen to us and they refuse," Liggett said.
After residents voiced their concerns, the city’s Planning and Zoning Board voted
