The Newnan Kiwanis Club distributed a record $300,000 in grants, scholarships, sponsorships and community support Tuesday night, the largest single-year investment the club has ever made back into Coweta County.

The milestone was made possible by a banner year at the Coweta County Fair, which generated unprecedented revenue for the civic club and allowed Kiwanis to fund 58 organizations, also a new record.

Since moving to the current fairgrounds in 2000, the club has now returned more than $5.7 million to the community through grants and other charitable programs.

“This is the distribution center of everything Kiwanis collects,” said Mike Barber. “You help us put it back out in the community. We have not seen the best of Newnan and Coweta County yet.”
