SARASOTA, Fla. ( WWSB ) - A driver crashed a stolen car through an apartment complex just before midnight Wednesday, forcing residents to evacuate but causing no major injuries to people.
The crash happened at an apartment complex in Sarasota when the suspect drove an SUV directly into the side of the building. The vehicle lodged into the structure, causing significant damage to the building’s support pillar and interior walls.
Apartment owner Michelle Platt said her niece, two nephews and the driver all survived the crash. One of her nephews was sleeping on a couch in the living room when a wall fell near him, missing him by inches.
