WOOD COUNTY, Ohio — One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash Thursday morning in Wood County, according to the sheriff's office.
The crash happened around 9:39 a.m. on State Route 235 near Hammansburg Road in Jackson Township.
The sheriff's office said William Springer, of Weston, was driving a Chevrolet Avalanche north on State Route 235 south of Hammansburg Road when the vehicle crossed the center line and entered a field before striking a creek embankment head-on.
Springer was pronounced dead at the scene. His age was not provided in a press release. No one else was in the vehicle, the sheriff's office said.
According to the sheriff's office, alcohol is not suspected in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
