Jay Leno is sharing the more difficult parts of wife Mavis Leno ’s health struggles.

The former Tonight Show host got candid regarding one of the symptoms of his wife’s advanced dementia , explaining she would often relive painful past memories over and over again.

“Probably the toughest part was every day she’d wake up and realize someone had called today to tell her her mother had passed away,” Jay told Hoda Kotb on the Nov. 20 episode of Today . “And her mother died every day for, like, three years.” WOW this is devastating

And each time it was as if Mavis, 79, was “learning for the first time.”

“That was really tricky,” the 75-year-old admitted. “That makes it hard.”
