A subject was barricaded at Broxton Place in The Villages with a large law enforcement presence on the scene, according to the Sumter County Sheriff's Office.

The SCSO said the incident was isolated to a single residence.

Neighbors evacuated, and the sheriff's office said it did not believe there was any danger to the public.

Deputies asked that anyone nearby avoid until the situation was resolved, and now, it has been.

According to SCSO, the subject has been safely taken into custody and the situation has been resolved.

The investigation remains ongoing.
