Wearing a tan coat and black pants, Kristjan Serraj quietly apologized in court, his voice barely audible as he entered a guilty plea to careless driving causing death for driving his van into Lake Ontario last January, which resulted in the death of his girlfriend, Agnesa Shukulli .
“I just wanted to say I am sorry and I feel very bad about all of this,” said Serraj, 24, quietly in Albanian, which was translated in court on Thursday morning. It was the most he spoke during the hearing, his eyes cast downward during most of the proceedings.
Serraj was the driver on a blistering cold evening Jan. 19, when he drove his car down a boat launch into the frigid waters of Lake Ontario at Ashbridges Bay.
