FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — The family of 15-year-old Carlos Mauricio Colindres shared a statement for the first time since his body was found in a ravine off Highway 158 , saying their “hearts are forever broken” and urging anyone with information to come forward.

“Our beloved 15-year-old son has been taken from us far too soon," the statement reads. "The pain we feel is indescribable, and our hearts are forever broken,” the family said in a statement shared through their attorney."

In the statement, which was provided to WFMY News 2 by the family's attorney, they asked that Carlos’ death serve as “a powerful reminder of the weight of responsibility we all carry."
