LAS VEGAS, Nev. (KOLO) - A former officer with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has been sentenced for his role in an insurance fraud scheme.
38-year-old Christopher Michael Mitchell of Henderson was sentenced to between one and two years in prison on Thursday after being convicted of one count of misconduct of a public officer.
The jury found that Mitchell asked a fellow LVMPD officer to create and file a false stolen vehicle report so that he could pursue an illegitimate insurance claim.
