RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is seeking volunteers to help prevent package theft this Christmas shopping season.

The Sheriff’s Office says they say see an increase in package thefts in November and December.

They are now asking for volunteers from unincorporated areas of Washoe County to offer their porches as part of the effort to prevent theft. Selected homes will allow deputies gather real time information and identify potential suspects in targeted neighborhoods over the coming weeks.
