A sixth-grade language arts teacher at Scottsdale Unified School District’s Cocopah Middle School was arrested Nov. 18 on suspicion of owning pornographic material of children about the age of his students.

The man, 53-year-old Michael Gill, of Anthem, admitted to police to owning the material and said he had been looking up child pornographic material for about 20 years, according to a statement from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

Gill was booked into the county jail on two charges of sexual exploitation of a minor and was arraigned Nov. 19. His bail was set at $250,000.

Gill also has a daughter about the same age of the children in the pornographic material he possessed but denied any abuse to her, according to court records.
