SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Thursday morning (Nov. 20), the Salvation Army gave away boxes of Thanksgiving food to seniors.
The giveaway began at 9 a.m., and 150 already reserved boxes were distributed to seniors 60+.
The giveaway was held at the Salvation Army of Northwest Louisiana at 200 E Stoner Ave. in Shreveport.
Officials with the Salvation Army say the Horseshoe Casino & Hotel donated 100 hams, 48 turkeys, and 28 pumpkin pies.
United Healthcare also donated $2,000 for sides like stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, corn, and cranberry sauce.
The Walmart on E Bert Kouns donated 300 assorted small pies as well.
“It is thanks to great partners such as these, that we are able to Do the Most Good,” said Major Pierre Smith with the Salvation Army.
