SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Mayor Tom Arceneaux is proposing strategic investments in public safety equipment and employee compensation as part of the 2026 budget currently under review by the Shreveport City Council.

The proposals respond to city council comments and requests during budget sessions about the need to support city workers and update essential service equipment.
The administration proposes financing $8.5 million in equipment using certificates of indebtedness to be repaid over five years. The plan includes purchasing approximately 60 police patrol vehicles, four new medic units, a tanker truck for the Shreveport Fire Department and replacement of eight aging garbage packers.
