HAMPTON, Va. — A Hampton Marine Corps veteran is getting a brand new roof thanks to a national program that supports military families in need.
Crews spent Thursday morning replacing the roof on the home of Eric Jones Sr., a Hampton Roads native, loving father, and Marine Corps veteran.
“Well, this has been a blessing,” Jones said. “It lets people know the veterans have not been forgotten.”
Jones joined the Marine Corps in July 1976, serving in military police and infantry. He has owned his home for more than 30 years and raised his two children, Krystal and Eric Jr., there.
Over time, the roof began to deteriorate. Krystal said leaks kept appearing, prompting her to search for help. That is when she found the Home Genius program, a national initiative that provides free roof replaceme
