PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Two Portsmouth men have been sentenced to federal prison for their roles in trafficking firearms, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.
Court documents show that between June and September 2024, law enforcement conducted six controlled purchases of firearms and heroin from 45-year-old Rolondo Lavar Moody. During one of those buys on Aug. 9, investigators say Kievon Anthony Whitehurst, 30, transferred a rifle to Moody, who later sold it.
Both men were previously convicted felons and were legally prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. Whitehurst had been convicted on firearms charges, while Moody had been convicted on drug charges and several violent offenses, including attempted malicious wounding.
