SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Beacon Health system is helping families prepare for Thanksgiving in partnership with the Food Bank of Northern Indiana.
Beacon handed out 500 free and frozen turkeys Thursday for families in need.
They were distributed by the food bank.
The bounty was made possible by donations from employees of Beacon Health system.
The turkeys were handed out drive-through fashion on a first come, first serve basis.
“It’s so great to give back to our associates. Our associates care for the community and to be able to give this is a way to say thank you for their services and for associates who chose not to take their turkeys. They’re able to donate it so will helping the community by making a donation to food bank,” said Gail Wisemann the director of Nutritional Services f
