SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Beacon Health System distributed 500 free frozen turkeys on Thursday to families in need through a partnership with the Food Bank of Northern Indiana.
The turkeys were handed out drive-through style on a first-come, first-served basis. Employee donations from Beacon Health System made the distribution possible.
“It’s so great to give back to our associates. Our associates care for the community and to be able to give this is a way to say thank you for their services and for associates who chose not to take their turkeys. They’re able to donate it, so will helping the community by making a donation to food bank,” said Gail Weismann, director of Nutritional Services for Beacon Health System.
