Ian Maxwell, chief executive of the Scottish FA , says that he is in no rush to speak to Scotland manager Steve Clarke about potentially staying in post beyond next summer’s World Cup, and will save that conversation until after Christmas.
It had been intimated by Clarke previously that this current campaign would be his last as Scotland head coach no matter how it turned out, but after the stunning scenes at Hampden on Tuesday night as his team clinched their place at the World Cup in the most dramatic of fashion, he himself left the door open to potentially extending his contract, which expires in the summer.
