NORTHBROOK, Ill. (WLS) -- All lanes of the Edens Expressway were closed for hours Thursday evening in part of the north suburbs after a crash caused a large light pole to fall, leaving live wires hanging over the roadway, Illinois State Police said.

The incident began around 3:24 p.m. after a crash that happened in Northbrook, police said.

Eastbound and westbound lanes were closed on I-94 in the area, just east of the I-294 spur, ISP said.

A new light pole was installed, ComEd said. The roadways were reopened to traffic by 8:40 p.m., state police said.

It was not yet known if there were any injuries in the initial crash.
