With record rice output, the total foodgrain production hit a record high of 357.32 million tonnes during 2024-25, shows the data released by the Agriculture Ministry on Thursday.
As per the data, the foodgrain production increased by 7.65 per cent to 357.32 million tonnes during 2024-25 from 332.29 million tonnes during 2023-24. Four crops—rice, wheat, soybean and groundnut—recorded the highest ever production, shows Final Estimate of Production of Foodgrains for 2024-25, released by the ministry.
Rice production during Kharif 2024-25 was recorded at 122.77 million tonnes, which was 8.39 per cent higher as compared to 113.25 million tonnes during the last year. During 2024-25, production of wheat was recorded at 117.94 million tonnes, Soybean 15.26 million tonnes, groundnut 11.9 million
