A trial on the largest methamphetamine case in Cherokee County's history concluded Thursday, the sheriff's office says.
Back in July 2022, deputies executed a search warrant at a home on Daylily Drive in Marble. During the search, they recovered approximately 38 pounds of methamphetamine and a conversion laboratory used for manufacturing the drug.
Lars Prentice Johnson, 53, was one of several defendants charged with possessing and manufacturing meth.
He was already on probation in Georgia when he was arrested on the new charges in North Carolina, the agency said.
A jury found Johnson guilty of the following:
High-level manufacturing of methamphetamine
Trafficking by possessing methamphetamine
Trafficking by manufacturing methamphetamine
The judge sentenced him to 18 years and nine
