Massachusetts Public Health Commissioner Robbie Goldstein released an impassioned statement Thursday, reaffirming there is no link between childhood vaccines and autism despite a contradictory "update" to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's website.
The CDC's webpage was updated on Wednesday to say, "the claim 'vaccines do not cause autism' is not an evidence-based claim because studies have not ruled out the possibility that infant vaccines cause autism."
The claim sparked outrage among the medical and scientific communities.
