ST PAUL, Minn. — Two days after federal immigration arrests at a St. Paul business, ICE officials are making their first public comments about the operation.
According to an unnamed DHS spokesperson in an email to Twin Cities area journalists, ICE officers executed a federal search warrant that resulted in the arrests of 14 people on alleged immigration violations. The spokesperson alleged one of the individuals arrested had past domestic abuse charges, and another individual had allegedly "committed a felony by illegally re-entering the U.S."
"Worksite enforcement remains a cornerstone of our efforts to protect public safety, national security, and economic stability while rescuing individuals who may be victims of labor trafficking or exploitation," the emailed statement read.
