TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - On Wednesday, a significant cleanup took place at the 100-Acre Wood Bike Park, where service providers engaged with 30 individuals on-site. Of those, 17 accepted housing and services at various locations.

City of Tucson workers removed more than 250 tons of trash and 230 shopping carts at the park, located east of Alvernon Way and West of Swan Road. Many animals were also retrieved and taken to shelters, officials said.

This cleanup marks the final phase in closing encampments at the park, which is now closed for construction. Outreach has been ongoing for months to transition residents into shelter using a service-first approach, ensuring access to various services including emergency shelter, safe placement for the day and options for family reunification and det
