PHOENIX (KVOA) - Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes is urging residents to be vigilant against home contracting and construction scams. This advisory follows the prosecution of a fraudulent contractor who scammed Tucson victims out of $75,000 in unfinished projects, according to a press release.

Attorney General Mayes highlighted the temptation for Arizonans to choose cheaper offers for home improvements, especially given the high cost of living. She stressed the importance of selecting from Arizona's more than 60,000 licensed contractors to avoid potential scams.

Tom Cole, Director of the Arizona Registrar of Contractors, emphasized the significance of collaboration with authorities to combat fraud, ensuring fraudsters face real consequences and reinforcing consumer protection.
