FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Georgia voters in portions of Fulton and Cobb counties went to the polls Tuesday for the State Senate District 35 special election. Two candidates will now head to a runoff next month, results show.
The vacancy became open after State Sen. Jason Esteves announced he was stepping down from the position to focus on his campaign for governor.
There were six candidates on the ballot:
Roger Bruce - Democrat
Jaha V. Howard - Democrat
Corenza Morris - Independent
Erica-Denise Solomon - Democrat
Josh Tolbert - Republican
John D. Williams - Democrat
The results show that none of the candidates met the 50-percent-plus-one-vote majority threshold to avoid a runoff.
