WINDSOR, N.C. (WITN) - A mobile food market helped families in Bertie County Thursday as high grocery prices strain budgets ahead of Thanksgiving.
Ripe For Revival held its weekly mobile pay-what-you-can market in Windsor, where dozens of people selected produce and meats for their holiday meals.
“I just thank the Lord. I came out looking for it to be a blessing for me because I like all the stuff that they have, praise God,” said Judy Norman, a Windsor resident.
The nonprofit operates on a donation-based system. While produce displays suggested prices, organizers say no one is turned away regardless of the ability to pay.
