RENO, Nev. (KOLO) -Under the state constitution a special session can be called by the governor who declares urgent action must be taken on legislative and budgetary matters.
But critics say of the 16 bills introduced, Senate Bill 3 was the only piece of legislation that came close.
“Should this happen again, we don’t have to have a special meeting,” said Senator Angie Taylor a Democrat with District 15.
Taylor described out Senate Bill 3 changes the way certain money is allocated here in Nevada.
“We have to call the IFC. We don’t have to call the whole legislature back together. The mechanism is already in place so we can feed people.”
Senate Bill Three changed state law to allow for the state to transfer funds to help pay for programs like the food assistance program SNAP typically
