LINCOLN, Neb. —
Critics of the formula Nebraska uses to fund its schools pointed to a costly miscalculation as a reason for why things need to change.
The error meant Omaha Public Schools received $30.5 million more in state aid for 2025-2026. The Nebraska Department of Education said it will subtract that amount from next year's aid.
"We have technical errors, but this seems particularly large," state Sen. Danielle Conrad said.
"I've been working with the TEEOSA format for 16 years, and we've never had anything like this in 16 years," Bryce Wilson, the NDE's administrator of financial services, said.
