Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav has hailed Japan’s Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) initiative, saying it would help develop a domestic ecosystem and localise high-technology interventions, while contributing to India’s sustainable development goals.
He was speaking at the 11th Joint Crediting Mechanism Partner Countries’ Meeting, organised by the Japanese Environment Ministry on the sidelines of COP30 in Belem (Brazil).
The JCM is a bilateral initiative, launched by Japan, which facilitates the transfer of low-carbon technologies to partner countries to help them reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Through the JCM, emission reductions are quantified and credited to both the partner country and Japan, allowing them to use these credits towards their Nationally Determined Co
